Ryan High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 84 in student achievement, 82 in school progress and 92 in closing performance gaps. It scored 86 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Ryan High School's three out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Denton High School’s only distinction designation is in Science.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Ryan High School. They make up for 45.66% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (28.05%), African Americans (19.95%), Two or More Races (3.66%), Asians (2.05%) and Native Americans (0.54%).

The student population at Denton High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 39.89%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (36.39%), African Americans (16.42%), Asians (3.31%), Two or More Races (3.07%) and Native Americans (0.67%).

Based on household incomes, Ryan High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 57.90% compared to 53.86% at Denton High School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Ryan High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 22.59% of its student population compared to 17.86% at Denton High School.

Ryan High School’s bilingual students comprise 22.29%, gifted and talented students, 12.44%, while 12.54% are in the special education program. Denton High School bilingual students comprise 17.67%, gifted and talented students, 12.10%, and 14.50% are in the special education program.

Denton High School's 143 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.9 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 11.9 years.
