Plano Sr High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 85 in student achievement, 79 in school progress and 74 in closing performance gaps. It scored 82 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Plano Sr High School’s only distinction designation is in Mathematics. Plano East Sr High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and with 25% student progress.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Plano Sr High School. They make up for 40.73% of student population, followed by Hispanics (26.65%), Asians (14.12%), African Americans (12.67%), Two or More Races (5.16%) and Native Americans (0.49%).

The student population at Plano East Sr High School is also predominantly by Asians at 32.59%, followed by Hispanics (30.41%), Whites or Caucasians (21.44%), African Americans (10.82%), Two or More Races (4.35%) and Native Americans (0.26%).

Based on household incomes, the Plano Sr High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 26.65% compared to 32.82% at Plano East Sr High School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Plano Sr High School has 246 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 10.86% of student population. Plano East Sr High School has significantly more ELLs at 514 or about 16.95% of student population.
