Scoggins Middle School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 91 in student achievement, 89 in school progress and 93 in closing performance gaps. It scored 92 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Wester Middle School also performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 95 in student achievement, 93 in school progress, 94 in closing performance gaps and 95 overall in post-secondary readiness.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Scoggins Middle School’s only distinction designation is in Comparative Closing the Gaps. Wester Middle School's seven out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Asians comprise the biggest group at Scoggins Middle School. They make up for 35.11% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.22%), African Americans (18.79%), Hispanics (13.97%), Two or More Races (6.43%) and Native Americans (0.37%).

The student population at Wester Middle School is also predominantly by Asians at 42.48%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (30.61%), Hispanics (11.76%), African Americans (8.82%), Two or More Races (5.56%) and Native Americans (0.65%).

Based on household incomes, Scoggins Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 21.38% compared to 11.87% at Wester Middle School.

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Scoggins Middle School has a higher number of English Language Learners comprising 7.42% of its student population compared to 6.21% at Wester Middle School.

In addition, Scoggins Middle School has 7.17% bilingual students, 14.71% are in the gifted and talented program, while 13.10% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Wester Middle School with 6.10% bilingual students, 15.80% gifted and talented students and 11.98% students in the special education program.
