Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Meridiana Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in with 25% student progress. Don Jeter Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Don Jeter Elementary School. They make up for 57.49% of student population, followed by African Americans (28.01%), Asians (6.27%), Whites or Caucasians (5.90%), Two or More Races (2.09%) and Native Americans (0.25%).

In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Don Jeter Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 44.84% of its student population compared to 8.86% at Meridiana Elementary School.
In addition, Don Jeter Elementary School has 44.59% bilingual students, 3.93% are in the gifted and talented program, while 12.78% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Meridiana Elementary School with 8.86% bilingual students, 4.37% gifted and talented students and 12.36% students in the special education program.
