Choosing the right middle school for your children can prove to be a daunting task. Middle school is when children start to flex their growing independence. Schools focus on preparing them for the more rigorous academic grind in high school.
When we compared Stinson Middle School, which is a part of NORTHSIDE ISD, with Rogers Academy, which is a part of SAN ANTONIO ISD, we noted a huge gap in ratings.
Stinson Middle School’s regular student population is 897 with a 16.2 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Rogers Academy is 754 students and a 15.1 students/teacher ratio.
Stinson Middle School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 81 in student achievement, 76 in school progress and 78 in closing performance gaps. It scored 80 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Rogers Academy was stamped a State accountability rating of F. The school posted 54 in student achievement, 58 in school progress, 69 in closing performance gaps and 59 overall in post-secondary readiness.
