-JENNY HAN
This time of year consists of a lot of send offs. So many first days... I never forget the two best days of the school year. The first, and the last!
This week, 3 of my baby owls are being sent off. Griffin is getting moved into his house in College Station for his senior year at A&M. He came home last week and told me that he really needed a nice piece of art for his room. That is when you know he is outgrowing college, right on time.
Remi is also moving into her house at UT for her senior year. (Griffin is taking 2 laps around the senior year.) She wants her room to feel authentic to who she is. She wants it to feel like home. She is carving out her little space in the world. Its a good thing that she has Todd Fiscus on speed dial. One short convo and Todd has designed the perfect room for her and deployed his troops for the install.
Casey is heading to his first year at Memorial High School. Since Chloe is at boarding school, this is his first time to start school without his other half. When I asked if he was nervous, he said, Yes, Mom, I am going to school without half of me. Ill be sure to squeeze him extra this morning.
If this week involves send offs for you and your family, know that you have done it. You are pretty kick ass! You have made them ready for their 1sts. Their first day of kindergarten, 9th grade or Junior year in college.
Cheers to the zoo keepers!

ITS GETTIN HOT IN HERE
The summer rays have been STRONG
lately. Here are some tips from
Thompson + Hanson to protect your
gardens from these summer rays.
1) Water Smarter: Set sprinklers for early
morning to maximize the water absorbed.
Water for longer periods of time (frequent
short watering encourages plants to keep
shallow roots).
2) Avoid using fertilizer as it will push the
plant to grow, adding too much stress in
the summer heat!
3) For plants that are sensitive to heat, shade cloth is key,
only letting a certain
percent of sunlight through.
