Most of you know about life in the Heights, all the cool shops, parks and cafes. Locals say it's just like what the sign says, "The hometown near downtown."
Realtor Cynthia Mullins knows every street and every corner, but recently she didn't know a thing about social media.
Everything I learned has been in the past two months," Mullins said.
Mullins attended a seminar sponsored by local realtors and then put herself through a crash course in Twitter and You Tube. She now feels like a pro with her Kodak personal HD Video camera. Mullins is on a hunt for video clips with local artists, store owners and teachers. She's looking for anyone who can give an outsider a "feel" for what it's like to live here.
So far about 30 people are part of the You Tube project. You can see and hear them talking about why they love the Heights.
"It's self-promotion for me and it's self-promotion for business," Mullins said.
Mullin's idea is an example of how quickly someone can find a use with social media. Even someone like Mullins, who had no clue recently how to even upload video.
Duane Meyers owns C & D Hardware and is one of the recent additions to the project. He was surprised when Mullins showed-up one day with her camera.
"It's a great thing ... maybe it will show we are a bit like Mayberry in a huge city," Myers said.
Mullins hopes to finish the project after she uploads her 100th video. So remember, she still has about 70 to go. A social media project that could soon be pointed your way.
