May Around Montgomery County is the Time for Fun

April is already ending, and May is just around the corner, with warmer days and blooming flowers around Montgomery County. There are always plenty of community activities for the whole family to enjoy. Montgomery County is a family-friendly community, as you’ll discover with these fun Montgomery County events.

The last weekend in April is the time to enjoy the Southern Star Brewing Company’s second annual Southern Star BBQ Cook-Off on Saturday the 28th. There will also be a tailgate party on Friday the 27th to start a fun weekend full of food, craft beer, and live music. The Cook-Off will also feature market vendors and local food trucks. Ticket sales, raffles and silent auctions will benefit Operation Pets Alive. Tickets are $12 for adults; kids get in free. Musical entertainment will include TreynWrek and the Captain Legendary Band from 6-9pm Friday evening, as well as the Brandon McDermott Band, Black Dog Friday, and the Josh Field & Brother Nothing Band on Saturday.

If you love sport races, you won’t want to miss the Ironman North American Championship on April 28th, in The Woodlands. This triathlon begins with a 2.4-mile swimming race in Lake Woodlands, followed by a 112-mile bike race, and then a 26.2-mile run which ends on Waterway Avenue. Everyone is welcome to come cheer for the athletes throughout The Woodlands course runs.

May is a musical month, with Waterway Nights beginning on Saturday, May 5th at 6:30pm at Waterway Square. Each Saturday in May will feature a variety of live bands to get your groove on and enjoy some time dancing with friends and family. Waterway Nights will feature local and regional performers within a variety of musical genres including dance, soul, 80s, 90s, today’s hits, and classic rock. Head over to The Woodlands Town Center and enjoy a night out full of musical entertainment.

Speaking of nights out, the Mommy’s Night Out: Art & Wine Night will be held on May 23rd. This is the perfect opportunity for busy moms around Montgomery County to have a fun night out before school is out for the summer. Leave the kids at home with a sitter and enjoy some wine and snacks at Prelude while you enjoy a relaxing time creating origami, adult-oriented coloring, and the art of Zentangle. The special Mom’s Night Out runs from 7:00 - 8:30pm.
