It may just be the kid inside me, but winter is still my favorite time of year. Between dusting off the cool weather clothing, more frequent stops for hot chocolate, and the buzz around Thanksgiving and Christmas, it’s hard not to fall in love with the change in “season.”

Every year I spot the doves as they are brought out in preparation for the area’s annual Lighting of the Doves tradition. Then one day they’re suddenly lit, and driving by them each evening is just a new part of my old routine. Sometimes it feels as though I am trying to move forward so much that I miss the little things changing right in front of me. If you’re like me, caught up in life’s daily routine, think about taking some time this holiday season to attend the Lighting of the Doves event.

Two Festivals in One?

The Lighting of the Doves event will be held in conjunction with the International Winter on the Waterway event, scheduled for Saturday, November 21st. There will be numerous performances across three stages in Town Green Park area. While the schedule has yet to be released for 2015, expect the event to start around 3pm with non-stop action between stages.

The event will feature fireworks, ice carvers, kid’s activities, live music, snow, and of course an arrival of Santa! Santa should make his appearance this year by a decorated boat from The Woodlands Waterway at the Celebration Stage between 7:00 and 7:45pm.

Both festivals are free to attend, and so is parking in the Green, Yellow, and Orange lots on Timberloch Place. Additional paid parking can be found at the Town Center Parking Lot and surface lots at Lake Robbins and Six Pines Drive.
