Every person who wins in any undertaking must be willing to burn his ships and cut all sources of retreat. Only by so doing can one be sure of maintaining that state of mind known as a Burning Desire To Win, essential to success. Every human being who reaches the age of understanding wishing to have a lot of money will not bring riches. But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches. The method by which DESIRE for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of six, definite and practical steps such as:

(1) Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say “I want plenty of money.” Be definite as to the amount. (2) Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. There is no such reality as something for nothing. (3) Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire. (4) Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action. (5) Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it. (6) Read your written statement aloud twice daily, once just before retiring at night and once after arising in the morning. AS YOU READ — SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY.

If you truly DESIRE money so keenly that your desire is an obsession, you will have no difficulty in convincing yourself that you will acquire it. The object is to want money, and to become so determined to have it that you CONVINCE yourself you will have it. Only those who become “money conscious” ever accumulate great riches. “Money Conscious” means that the mind has become so thoroughly saturated with the DESIRE for money, that one can see one’s self already in possession of it. Financial intelligence is simply having more options. If your hunch is wrong , and what you,ve been counting on doesn’t happen, how can you turn a lemon into millions. That is financial intelligence. It is not so much what happens, but how many different financial solutions you can think of to turn a lemon into millions. It is how creative you are in solving financial problems because you want to be the kind of person who creates your own luck. You take what happens and make it better. Few people realize that luck is created just as money is. And if you want to be luckier and create money instead of working hard, then your financial intelligence is important.

As a leader, you should know how to place people in your organization and analyze the following areas. Personality is if the team member is influencing, driving, supporting, or calculating. Passion is to find out what motivates them — results, relationships, money, recognition, affirmation, impact, or security. Pattern is where you look about their successes and their failures if they work best alone or on a team. Potential is to see what they might accomplish given right direction, motivation, coaching, and leadership to gauge whether they are maintainers or builders. Profile is if they will fit the company’s culture. Placement is to measure where they fit in the company and where they will add value.

Being a team leader, you are responsible for making sure the revolving door moves in such a way that the players who are joining the team are better than those who are leaving. One way you can facilitate that is to place high value on the good people already on the team. Every team has 3 groups of players. Starters are the ones directly adding value to the organization or who directly influence its course. Bench players are the ones indirectly adding value to the organization or who support the starters. Core Group is the inner circle members who are within the starters and without these people, the team would fall apart. The team leader’s job is to make sure that each group is continually developing so that bench players are able to step up to become starters.
