Houston has many major money centers that call Houston home:

Houston is home to Oil & Gas.  According to TXOGA, “In fiscal year 2022, the Texas oil and natural gas industry supported 443,000 direct jobs and paid $24.7 billion in state and local taxes and state royalties, funding our state’s schools, roads and first responders.”   Source: Texasoga.org

Houston is home to the Texas Medical Center (TMC).  According to TMC, “The world’s largest medical complex, TMC has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare. Houston is home to Downtown.  According to downtown district, “With an electric mix of historic and contemporary infrastructure, convenient transit options, convention and sports venues, an active cultural and arts scene, fine dining and shopping and thriving residential communities, downtown Houston is one of the region’s most dynamic mixed-use urban centers. Houston is home to Uptown Houston.  According to Uptown Houston with it’s titled,  “RED CARPET TO THE WORLD". Houston’s international footprint is second to none. Houston is home to Port of Houston / Ship Channel.  According to Port Houston, #1 US port waterborne tonnage, 3.2 million jobs nationwide (1.35 million in Texas), $802 billion in annual National Economic value ($339 billion TX),  38 billion generated in Tax Revenue.   For over a century, Port Houston has served as a strategic leader for the Houston Ship Channel and is instrumental in the City of Houston’s development for international trade. Houston Spaceport is an FAA-licensed, urban commercial spaceport offering unprecedented access to a thriving aerospace community. Houston is home to Construction  According to Colliers, “New construction awards in 2022 were up 25% in 2022 vs 2021, with contractors reporting solid pipelines in place for 2023.”  Source:  Colliers.com
