Is The City of Sugar Land, Texas – City Government planning to ban REALTORS from serving on Planning & Zoning? It sure sounded like it was heading in that direction after Joe Zimmerman filed a frivolous ethics complaint against one of the most successful REALTORS in Sugar Land who also serves on P&Z. The complaint was filed over a REALTOR video but was really about this REALTOR Commissioner’s NO vote allowing 1200 APARTMENTS AT IMPERIAL. The Ethics Commission spent quite a bit of time discussing whether REALTORS are qualified to serve? After years of agents serving on this commission, they are suddenly not qualified. The Ethics Committee discussion failed to even consider the failure of the Mayor to provide the relavent information as required by City Code. Is it because there was no relevent information? And of course, the Mayor has some pretty close friends on the committee. No set up here, right. But the Mayor’s problem may be that text message with a pro apartment commissioner about needing to “take care” of those 4 no voters. Word is the City wants to make Sugar Land like Austin. Stay tuned and follow Sugar Land Votes for the outcome…and if you attend the next FB HAR luncheon, let Mayor Joe know what you think.
