What To Do After You’re Approved On A Lease

When you’re approved on a lease, congratulations! You’re almost ready to move into your new home. However, there are still a couple of things that you need to do before you officially move in. First, make sure that you have enough money to cover the first month’s rent and the security deposit. When your landlord requires a security deposit, you’ll want to have this ready as soon as possible so you can move in when your lease begins. Also, make sure that you have enough money to cover the first month’s rent and any moving costs. In addition, the costs of hiring a moving company if you want to do the move on your own.

What to do when you’re approved on a lease – Change Your Address

As soon as you find out that you are approved on a lease, you’ll want to change your address. You can do this online or at your local post office. By doing this, you’ll make sure that you get all your important mail, like your new utility information and any bills that you have coming due. This will also help make the move-in process a little easier so everyone will know where you’re going to be living. You can also change your address with the Social Security Administration, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and your health insurance company.

Move – Get Insurance

If you haven’t already, you’ll also want to get insurance as soon as you’re approved on a lease. This is especially important if you’re renting a place with roommates and/or a pet. If you’re renting with roommates, you’ll want to make sure that you have a roommate agreement in place. This will help you avoid some of the common roommate issues, like cleaning and noise complaints. If you have a pet or plan to get a pet, you’ll want to make sure that you have pet insurance. This is especially important if you have a dog since you’re likely to have to pay a lot of money for a dog bite lawyer if a neighbor sues you for their injuries.

Hold-over Clause And Repairs

There are two things that you should look for in your lease. First, you want to make sure that there’s a hold-over clause. This will protect you when landlord is late with your rent payment. It will also protect you if you’re the one who is late. Next, you want to look for a section regarding repairs. Make sure you fully understand what is and isn’t your responsibility for repairs. You’ll also want to look at the related section of your lease, as well as your state’s landlord-tenant law.
