Resumes are very professional, and very boring. I did this; I did that. Blah, blah, blah. But resumes don’t really begin to describe who a person is. And they really don’t describe what type of a Business Person they are. So please allow me to tell you some of the things that have no place on a Resume;after all, is there too much you could know about the Realtor you choose to help you with some on the most important financial decisions you will have to make? When people ask me how long I have been in sales my standard reply is: “I’m not in sales, I’m a Public Servant/Information Broker.” ***Public Servant*** My philosophy is that you have to help people if you are in a position to do so. It seems that the more I reach out to help others the more great things happen to me. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to make it sound like I’m doing charity work all day, I do have to make a living. But I do what extra I can, and it always seems to return to me 10 fold.
***Information Broker*** I have lived in this area for over 26 years. I graduated from these schools. And after 5 years of College, it was such a fantastic time I so no need to rush, I graduated from Texas A&M and came back home. I have been involved in Real Estate for 16 years. When I started in Real Estate we used a 3 page Residential Sales Contract on legal paper, now its 8 pages letter. When I started we had property books. And when we got “thermal paper” listings over modems we all thought: “Man, we’re really cookin’ now!” Now we use something they call: “The Internet.” Don’t even get me started on the “cell phone suit cases” only the very few Realtors had. Point is, I’ve been actively involved in Real Estate around here a long time, and I’ve watched both the community and the business change and grow. Take away the Company name, the wool suit and tie, the big fancy car, the “cookie cutter” listing package with all it’s pretty pictures and graphs, and look at the person.
