How To Get Rid Of Fire Ants?

I've tried two different brands of sprinkle-on-the-mound chemical granule products. The mound will die off but a new one comes in about 4 feet away shortly thereafter. I would seriously like to quit chasing them around my yard and get them gone. Is this possible? What is your experience? (FYI -- I found out quite by accident that if you put a thin layer of Vick's vapor rub on fire ant bites the day it happens ---- it takes the sting, hurt and "itch" out of them)

Fire Ants are definitely a painful nuisance in any yard. I have listed a link below from Texas A&M about controlling fire ants as well as a promo video from Ortho for their products (I'm sure there are other brands available too) For our home we just finished treating with a full lawn treatment - since acting mound by mound seemed to be an never ending battle. We did this a few years ago with good results as well. Good luck! Karen Sherril Simien Properties karen@karensherrill-homes.com
