Having little or no credit history can be a problem when applying for a loan—you won't have a credit score. So how can you apply for a mortgage? A loan insured by the Federal Housing Administration, which is what you’ll have to apply for without a credit score, allows borrowers to use non-traditional credit sources to establish a history. Here are some examples of payment history that you can use:  

  • Rent
  • Savings
  • School tuition
  • Insurance
  • Utilities.
