London's Green Fire Not Likely in USA

The deadly fire that engulfed London’s Grenfell Tower was fueled by commonly used “green energy” upgrades found on tens of thousands of buildings across the world, including in the United States.  The main upgrade in question in the London fire is cladding.  Cladding is the application of one material over another to provide skin or layer intended to control the infiltration of weather elements, or for aesthetic purposes. Without absolute perfect sealing between floors of the cladding creates pockets between the cladding and the old building that allowed the fire to climb up the outside of the building like a chimney.

Although I have seen cladding used in Houston, our market being a much newer one has fewer "old" buildings that this type of application would be used on.  Most commonly in our community we would see it as the upgrade strip centers that are older, thus giving them a new look.

Additionally, the safety standards and inspection standards in the USA are apparently much stricter than in many places around the world, including London, which would prevent the situation that took place at Grenfell Tower.
