For buyers, there are many pros to considering purchasing a new home versus a resale home. A qualified real estate agent can help advise and narrow down the search to help with one of the most important purchases in your life. According to the 2015 mid-year sales report issued by RCLCO, there are four master planned communities in the Houston area ranked within the top 20 in the country: Riverstone, Aliana, both in Fort Bend, and Canyon Lakes West in Cypress, and Wildwood at Northpointe in Tomball.

For the first time in 20 years, The Woodlands didn't make the list. Having said this, The Woodlands continues to be a highly desirable area for families to move to. The Woodlands was ranked #1 in the 2015 list of best places to live in Texas according to Nerdwallet.com. The ExxonMobil corporate headquarters moving to this area might have something to contribute to this success, with more than 10,000 employees from all over the country recently relocating to this new epicenter. The newest and last village in The Woodlands, Creekside Forest, zoned to Tomball ISD, features new construction ranging from the low-$300s through $1.3M. Builders in this area include Darling Homes, M/I Homes and Coventry Homes in the Timarron Lakes and Twin Ponds subdivisions.

Surrounding Spring and Conroe neighborhoods were also influenced by this move and consumers seeking to increase value for money may find desirable subdivisions like Lakes of the Shadow Creek in Augusta Pines, Northampton, Augusta Creek Ridge, Auburn Lakes, Harper's Preserve, Harmony, Jacob's Reserve and Woodforest very appealing. School districts zoned to these subdivisions are in either of the highly reputable Conroe or Klein ISD. Builders like Highland Homes, DR Horton, Perry Homes, Pulte, Ryland, Westin Homes, M/I Homes, and Meritage Homes all have inventory in these areas.

On the southwest quadrant of greater Houston, Riverstone has a natural appeal because it is located in Sugar Land, near Hwy. 6 zoned to highly acclaimed Fort Bend ISD, and has homes for sale within the mid $300s to $2.5M. Sugar Land was voted as the number 4 spot of top 20 places to live in Texas, and Riverstone was ranked as #5 in the list of top 20 master planned communities, down one spot from last year. Riverstone inventory homes include builder samples from Sitterle Homes, The Manors by Westport and Darling Homes.

The newest major loop toll roads in Houston, the Grand Parkway continues to make strides towards completion and this will be a benefit to all Houston area residents. Once the Grand Parkway is finally completed all of these outstanding communities will be direct beneficiaries of this mega infrastructure addition.
