Cost vs. Value: Houston Remodeling Projects

Spring time has arrived to Houston!  

Well... sort of....

Despite the seemingly non-stop rain in our Houston area... we are in the season in which many are looking around their homes and thinking about which remodel projects to begin.

So, which remodel projects should you consider?

Based off of recent figures, from the 2015 Cost vs. Value Report - Houston, the top 5 projects that will recoup 70%, or more, of your cost are:

1. Stone Veneer Accent (86.6%)

2. Garage Door Replacement (79.1%)

3. Entry Door Replacement - steel door (78.8%)

4. Siding Replacement - fiber cement (75%)

5. Minor Kitchen Remodel (72.8%)

Notice that the top 4 projects involve the curb appeal of your home.  As the weather gets better, outdoor projects should defintely be at the top of your list. This cost vs. value trend in Houston does not stray far from national trends.

So, how does Houston figures compare with National figures?

2. Stone Veneer Accent (92.2%)

3. Garage Door Replacement (88.4%)

4. Siding Replacement - fiber cement (84.3%)

5. Deck Addition - wood (80.5%)

When deciding on the remodel project of your choice, make sure you hire contractors with proven reptuations for great work.  Also, save the "do it yourself" projects for smaller scale items. Leave the bigger projects to professionals... anyways, you'll recoup most of your cost if you stick to Houston's top 5 projects!
