Welcome to our new monthly series about keeping your home up to speed! Regular home maintenance is essential for protecting your investment, preventing costly repairs, improving energy efficiency, and ensuring your family's safety and comfort in Houston's unpredictable climate. To keep things on track, we've broken it down into bite-size portions to make tasks manageable throughout the year.

January Tasks:

  • Test and replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  • Inspect heating system; schedule professional service if needed for occasional cold snaps.
  • Check caulking around windows and doors for drafts; reseal as necessary.
  • Flush water heater to remove sediment buildup.
  • Inspect attic for signs of moisture or pests during cooler, wetter weather.
  • Clean gutters if debris accumulated over fall/winter.

Stay tuned for February's installment!
