Britt was raised in Dallas and was actively engaged in Boy Scouts – spending part of his summers on his grandparent's farm in south Texas where he developed a passion for natural science and the outdoors – graduating a few years later from Texas A&M University. For nearly forty years Britt worked with a wide range of volunteers and professionals in Scouting program and administration – spending his last 17 years in fundraising, grant writing and quality metrics for the Sam Houston Area Council.
