Thursday, July 28th at 6:30pm (Arrive by 6:15 to hear an introduction by UHCL Cultural Arts Assistant, Sonia Hernandez) Classic Movie Night with Days of Heaven starring Richard Gere, Brooke Adams, and Sam Shepard. Directed by Terrence Malick in 1978. This color film is rated PG (Parental Guidance) and is 94 minutes long.
Month of August: Introduction to Using Overdrive: Come to one of these sessions if you want help getting started, installing the free software, or searching and downloading the free eBooks and audio-books. Mondays from 4:30 - 5:30pm; August 1,8,15,22,29.
Thursday, August 4th at 6:30pm Computer Class: Database Searching. Learn about free library databases including auto repair, language learning, genealogy, magazine and newspaper, health, science, history, and e-book databases.
Tuesday, August 9th at 7pm Book Club will discuss Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. Book Club meets the 2nd Tuesday each month at 7:00 p.m. The library has several copies of the book. Refreshments are provided.
Wednesday, August 10th at 7pm Who Are the Chickasaw Indians? Come hear Chickasaw Nation citizen Rebecca Hatcher Travis tell stories about her American Indian heritage and read from her award winning book, Picked Apart the Bones.
Thursday, August 11th at 6:30pm Classic Movie Night with To Be or Not To Be starring Carole Lombard & Jack Benny. Directed by Ernst Lubitsch in 1942. This black and white film is not rated and is 99 minutes long.
Thursday, August 18th at 6:30pm Computer Class: Managing Files and Folders. Learn how to save and organize your files on your computer or on various removable storage devices such as a USB flash drive.
Wednesday, August 24th at 7pm David LeFevre Crawford's Civil War: Just after Ft Sumter fell, enlisted as Private in 13th Pennsylvania, wounded as Adjutant 139th Pennsylvania, 6th Corps just before Appomattox. W N Crawford will talk about the 6th Corps in two decisive battles, Gettysburg and Cedar Creek, and will recount the life and events of this Civil War soldier through story, images, and song.
