Licensed since 1988, MaryAnn Shields has been in and out of real estate sales over the years, taking time out to work in human resources and counseling with Briargrove Psychotherapy/Children Cope with Divorce, and as a Licensed Group I and II insurance broker with Benefit Insurance Consultants, Inc., from which she brought a multitude of skills that benefit the clients she works with since returning to real estate.
Utilizing her organizational and leadership skills to support others and dealing with the emotions of her Buyers and Sellers are the keys to her success. She has the ability to think like a researcher, zooming in on the details and pertinent facts, and delivers a high level of customer service and loyalty.
Working closely with domestic and international employees of various corporations who are relocating into the Houston area, MaryAnn utilizes her keen eye for quality, design, decorating and staging to assist them and their families in feeling at home and comfortable in their new surroundings as soon as possible. Educating buyers on the details regarding available private/public schools systems, neighborhood amenities, schools, shopping, available sports and whatever else they may need is one of her high priorities.
A native Houstonian who grew up in West University, MaryAnn also possesses a vast knowledge of the city’s various neighborhoods, public and private schools.
MaryAnn’s father was in Commercial Real Estate and her mother was a nurse who began her career traveling with the Iron Lung Polio Team and The Red Cross. Later her mother joined MD Anderson as Director of Nursing and opened the first Hospice in Houston. MaryAnn is one of six siblings, including two sets of twins, of which she and her twin brother are the youngest.
Real Estate has always been a passion of hers. Dependable, flexible, honest, detail-oriented and knowledgeable, MaryAnn loves working with Sellers and staging their homes, or helping Buyers find their dream homes or investment properties.
Always finding ways to support and give back to life, MaryAnn has served as a former Board Member and past President of Woodsborough Homeowner’s Association, and volunteered with Faith Lutheran Day School and Special Pal at Texas Children’s Hospital. MaryAnn is the proud mother of two Eagle Scout sons.
“I appreciated Mary Anne's competency and communication. The thing that really stood out was her compassion. We had a tricky situation, because my sister has some special needs and I was legally representing her. Mary Ann was very sensitive and supportive.”
