One of the best parts of being a local broker is that I actually spend my weekends in the areas I sell in — and this one has a little of everything now that fall has settled in. I keep free weekly guides for four corners of the Houston area so you can make a plan in a couple of minutes instead of a dozen open browser tabs. Here’s what caught my eye for the weekend of September 26–27.
In Houston, Saturday night’s easy call is Día de la Hispanidad at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park — a free evening of Latin music at 7:30, running from Celia Cruz through Maná to Karol G, that you can catch from a reserved covered seat or a blanket on the hill. If you’ve got kids, the Houston Pumpkin Festival is up all weekend at Discovery Green downtown, with a carousel, a hay maze, a corn pit, and pumpkins everywhere for the photos.
Out in Katy, Central Green throws a beach party Friday night — Endless Summer, a Beach Boys tribute, plays the lawn from 7 to 9, free and open to the public. Pack a couple of chairs and a blanket, and get there a little early if you want a good spot near the stage.
Up in Cypress, the pumpkin patch is in full swing at Dewberry Farm out in Brookshire, with the corn maze, hayrides, and farm animals running all weekend. Late September is the smart time to go — the Saturdays are still a good bit calmer than the peak-October crowds.
And over in Tomball, the big one is GroovFest ’26 — a free, retro-themed street party at Depot Plaza on Saturday from 11 to 5, with live music, vintage cars to walk around, a bubble station, and a kids’ play zone. Admission and parking are both free, so it’s an easy family Saturday.
Getting out and spending a Saturday somewhere is honestly one of the best ways to figure out whether a part of Houston fits your life — the drive, the pace, the weekend routine. If wandering one of these areas ever has you wondering what it’d be like to live there, that’s a conversation I’m always glad to have, no pressure and no obligation.
