Colby is a sixth-generation Texan and was born in central Texas. Growing up, Colby's family lived abroad, his youngest years were spent living in Malaysia and his formative years at a private British school outside London in Surrey County. While still in his youth, Colby moved to Houston and completed high school. He completed his education at Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Prior to working in Real Estate, Colby worked as a teacher, serving Houston's underprivileged neighborhoods. He then worked in finance at one of the biggest bond investors in Houston.
