Not to mention the fact that the budgets set for most of those DIY home improvement shows are completely unrealistic — just because their team of experts can flip an entire house under budget in 8 weeks doesn’t mean that you can do it, too.

2. I can learn everything I need to know on the TV show.

So many DIY shows feature that one scene where a person in flip flops and goggles begins to excitedly weald a sledgehammer to take down some old ugly walls.
