2 Minutes to Escape a Burning Home...Be Ready!!

The subdivision residents heard sirens blaring early one Sunday morning.  As they peered outside their windows and doors, they realized that one of the neighbor's house was on fire.  Thank God the occupants of the home were able to escape the fire!  Unfortunately, the family pets were not able to make it out.  This family lost everything.  There is a GoFundMe account set up to assist this family under "CARR FAMILY HOUSE FIRE" (set up on 11/29/2015, click here for link)  

This is a scary occurrence that could happen to anyone at any time.  Did you know that fire experts have found that people have little as 2 minutes to escape a burning home?  Are you and your family prepared? It's very important that you develop an escape plan for your family and practice the plan several times throughout the year.  You should identify at least 2 exits from every room in the home.  Pick a place for everyone to meet outside, in the event of a fire.  Practice waking up to smoke detectors, low crawling, meeting outside and Stop/Drop/Roll technique.  Make sure your smoke alarms are working and change batteries as often as needed.
