How do I get my home ready to put on the market?
What is one of the number one questions clients ask when considering putting their home on the market? That's easy! Where do I start when it comes to getting my home ready for market?"
First, find and contact a real estate agent, and set up an appointment for a consultation! If you have already done so....step 1 complete! You're on your way! An agent can tour your home, ask questions about your expectations, and give you pointers on how to get your home ready for sale.
Here is a great checklist that I address with all of my clients:
- Curb appeal. What can you do to boost your home's exterior presence. Power wash, clean any debris from the yard, roof, and gutters. Manicure your yard. And add flowers!
- Everything that applies for the exterior of your home applies for the interior as well! Does your home need a little face lift? Touch up paint, clean carpets, and have your home professionally cleaned! This makes all the difference in the world for resale!
- Lets talk paint! Are some rooms painted bright colors? If you can - paint them a neutral color. Bright colors can be off-putting and narrow your buyer pool. Not to mention they don't always photograph as well as neutral rooms.
- DE-CLUTTER! This is a big one! Expect to remove 75-80% of your personal belongings. Items on the counters, toys, personal items, photos, etc. This is a big one!
