I recently moved from the Heights area of Houston to the Vintage Park area, near 249 and Louetta. I am really amazed at how much the area exceeds my expectations! There is a new Alamo Drafthouse movie theater, a killer HEB, El Tiempo...now I don't have to drive 45 minutes for a green sauce fix.
I also thought I was giving up my green space. As a triathlete I used Memorial Park to death. Now, I have access to miles and miles of trails between Cypress Creek and Faulkey Gully just to the West of 249.
To top it all off, I was able to afford a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath bargain of a house with a 15,000 square foot yard with a pool so what some people in the Heights pay just for taxes!
This experience has been very positive and taught me to look outside my comfort zone, and I might be pleasantly surprised.
