Meet Some Local Houston Dog Groomers

Grooming your dog is as important to your dog’s overall health as healthy eating, exercise, and regular vet visits. You may have a favorite groomer but what happens if you’re new to the community and not sure who to turn to or your favorite groomer has retired? I’ve got you covered. Allow me to introduce you to some local Houston dog groomers.

What to Ask Your Groomer

When choosing a new-to-you groomer it’s wise to ask some questions and get to know them better. If you’re unsure what to ask consider these starter questions to get the conversation going and learn more.

  • May I visit your facility and see where the dogs are groomed? Viewing where your pet will be groomed allows you to see the groomers in action and evaluate if the facility is clean. You’ll want to pay attention to things such as if the room(s) are well-ventilated, any unfavorable smells, and if pet-friendly products and sturdy tables are being used.
  • Are pet owners permitted to stay and watch the grooming? Depending on your pet personality, having you present may be calming for them—at least, for the first visit.
  • Are you experienced with my pet’s breed? Some breeds have different grooming needs and makes sense to match a groomer to your dog’s breed.
  • Tell me about your training. While it may feel awkward to ask about the groomer’s training, you are your pet’s advocate and owe it to your pet to ensure they are in the best hands. Some groomers learn on the job while others have attended pet grooming school.
