Houston Restaurants Weeks 2023 is Nearing

Calling all Foodies, you don’t want to miss this! The 20th Annual Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW) will take place on August 1 through Labor Day, September 4. This community favorite event is a leading fundraiser benefitting the Houston Food Bank. The now month-long charity dining extravaganza features specially priced lunches, brunches and dinners at restaurants from The Woodlands to Galveston, Texas. Participating restaurants make donations based upon how many brunches, lunches and dinners they sell during the event, diners are not solicited for donations.

How the restaurants donate:

A full listing of participating restaurants will be announced beginning July 15th through August 1st on the Houston Restaurant Weeks website. Until the full list is available you can browse the numerous restaurants who have said “Yes!” to participating and joining in their efforts to support the Houston Food Bank. We love this community spirit!

How “Dining Out & Doing Good” Spurred a City into Action

“Dining Out & Doing Good” is the motto of Cleverly Stone. It was in 2003 when Stone first planned the charity dining event to raise funds for the Houston Food Bank and Houston Restaurants Week was born. Stone turned the month of August, historically a slow month for restaurants, into a booming and thriving month for local economy and a giant fundraiser for a great cause.

When Cleverly Stone passed away in May 2020, her daughter Katie Stone has picked up the baton and is now spearheading The Cleverley Stone Foundation which produces Houston Restaurant Weeks and now Eat Drink HTX carrying on and expanding a truly remarkable legacy.

Over the years, this event has grown to what we know today. Its success depends on you, the diners, coming out to eat delicious meals at some of your favorite places. The true winners are those being served by the food bank. Because of this collective effort, millions of dollars have been raised and more than 52 million meals have been distributed through the Houston Food Bank.

How Diners Participate in this Fundraiser

According to the Houston Restaurant Weeks website, diner participation is as easy as following these steps:

  • Reservations are not required but recommended, please check their menu page to see if they require reservations or will accept walk-ins. Some restaurants will also have an Open Table link on their menu.
  • If using OpenTable to make your reservation, please write ‘Request Houston Restaurant Weeks Menu’ in the comments field.
  • When making your reservations or ordering to-go, be sure to tell them that you would like the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. This will let the restaurant know to donate to the Food Bank from the proceeds of your meal. You will not be solicited for a donation; the restaurant makes the donation.
  • Please arrive on time for your reservation, pay your check at the end of the meal, just like any other dining experience. The restaurant will donate to the Houston Restaurant Weeks Food Bank based upon the price of your meal.

I hope you and your family will consider participating this year. This is a fundraiser my family is proud to support. There are so many yummy places to choose from. It will be hard deciding where to dine.
