Since the beginning of the Covid virus pandemic, more and more workers shifted to working or attending school remotely. Two lessons the pandemic has taught us are:
Having access to technology opens up a variety of possibilities and opportunities to do things differently. Today’s homes are including a home office as an essential room in their home. Families want a dedicated place for students and adults.
Traditionally, the extra bedroom served as a bonus room easily converted to an office. Popular choices now include a room just off the foyer, near the front door. Another prime location is an extension off the kitchen or main bedroom which can double as a sitting room or den. One thing that won’t change is our fondness for computers, printers, and a need for a quiet place to work or study while at home.
As you think about this chapter in your life and how your current home serves you, it’s okay to decide downsizing, upsizing, or finding something in-between but in a different location is where this new phase of life is taking you. Family size changes with the addition of children and then shrinks when the children become adults and move out to begin their own families or pursue a career. It’s natural to reconsider what you want and need in a home over the years.
If you’re unsure, reach out to your real estate agent to discuss your options. I’m happy to answer your questions and help you decide if your current home would do well on the market and provide listing information for homes to see you through this next phase.

Perhaps you’re living in the city because of the short commute but your heart longs for the suburbs and more outdoor space plus a pool. Now, is the time. Make an appointment with me to discuss your dream of living in a different location and working remotely from your own home.
