A Shift in Perspective

When I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, everything changed. Time slowed down. Priorities shifted. Suddenly, every sunrise felt more sacred.

When you hear the words “there’s no cure,” your entire outlook transforms. You begin to see life differently — through a lens of gratitude, simplicity, and courage. You learn that you can either give up or fight daily, not just to survive, but to live — to love deeper, give more freely, and inspire others along the way.

In a strange way, I sometimes wish this awareness had come earlier in my life. I might have mastered more, worried less, and focused on what truly matters. But perhaps this journey came exactly when it was meant to — to remind me that each day is still a chance to begin again.

What I’ve Been Up To

Instead of slowing down, I’ve redirected my energy into new projects that give me purpose and joy:

Building My Own Website

I wanted a platform that reflects my voice and vision — and so I built https://www.dawsonglobalconsultants.com/

entirely on my own.
It’s simple, functional, and represents my work in global real estate education, consulting, and mentorship. Every section you see is the result of curiosity, late nights, and learning something new.

Writing and Publishing My Book

I turned my journey into words with my book, https://tinyurl.com/47pkk9y3  — available in hardback, paperback, and Kindle.
It’s an honest reflection of life, resilience, and humor in the face of hardship. Writing it helped me process the emotional and physical challenges of cancer while finding light, purpose, and laughter along the way.

Becoming a Cancer Mentor

With my years of mentoring REALTORS® through the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) program, mentoring comes naturally to me.
Now, I’ve taken that passion to a new place — signing up to become a mentor for other cancer patients. I believe that healing begins with human connection, and if I can help even one person navigate the maze of treatment, emotions, and recovery, that’s a victory worth celebrating.

I’ll be working with local hospitals soon, sharing resources, experiences, and encouragement — because sometimes, a simple conversation can change everything.

New Ways to Give Back

Here are a few initiatives I’m exploring — and I’d love for you to join, contribute, or share ideas:

  1. “Hope & Hustle” Blog Series — short, real stories of people finding strength through adversity.

  2. Mentorship Circles for Survivors — helping patients rebuild careers, confidence, and dreams post-diagnosis.

  3. Monthly “Tea & Talk” Virtual Sessions — open chats for anyone facing illness, burnout, or uncertainty.

  4. Resource Hub on My Website — curated links for cancer support, wellness, and community programs.

  5. Comfort Kits for Patients — small care packages for hospital stays (a cozy blanket, journal, herbal tea, or note of encouragement).

  6. Follow-Up Companion Guide — a future project tied to my book, focused on “Purpose After Diagnosis.”

Each of these ideas is rooted in one belief: giving back creates strength, both for the giver and the receiver.

My Promise Moving Forward

Every morning, I remind myself that today is not a continuation — it’s a new beginning.
I may not control my diagnosis, but I can control how I react to it, how I treat others, and how I use my time.

To everyone walking through a difficult season — whether it’s illness, loss, or uncertainty — remember this:

You already have everything you need to make a difference. Start small. Start today.

Giving back isn’t about grand gestures. It’s about showing up — with kindness, compassion, and courage.

Thank you to everyone who continues to reach out, pray, and encourage me along this path. Your messages remind me that the greatest medicine in life is often found in the love and support we give each other.

Until next time — keep moving forward, keep learning, and always keep a little room for a cup of tea and a kick in the teeth.
