My fence was old, sagging and the gaps at the bottom gave the dog room to "exit". I went to my neighbors to see about going in on a new fence. They were wonderful! We all realized it was time, and going in on it meant significant savings on the cost. The fence contractor had to figure out who owed what, but he got there and now we have 12 families on two streets who have pristine new yard "barriers". If it's time for you to get a fence replacement, ask those around you -- give notice so everyone can save up -- and go in on a necessary home improvement that will protect your property values.
The saying goes: good fences build good neighbors, but in my case, it was good neighbors who chose to build good fences!
