In the heart of Cypress, Texas, nestled among local businesses and friendly faces, lives a place that’s more than just a coffee shop - it’s a mission, a ministry, and a movement.
L3 Craft Coffee, founded by husband-and-wife duo Tommy and his wife, was born from a dream of ownership, a love for coffee, and a desire to create a space where everyone belongs.

“We wanted to own our business. With Tommy’s experience in coffee manufacturing and our love for coffee, we knew this was our calling.”
But the inspiration for L3 Craft Coffee went deeper than espresso beans. It came from a desire to shift the coffee shop culture from exclusive to inclusive - a place where people of all backgrounds and coffee knowledge levels feel welcome.
Owning a small business isn’t without its challenges, but for L3, the wins far outweigh the hardships. One of the most meaningful moments for the owners comes when they give back - whether it’s through free coffee at a church fall festival or brewing up drinks at the local police gumbo cook-off.
“We meet customers who tell us how much they love our coffee, how they appreciate that we put faith first, and how they’re always advocating for us. It makes you proud to be part of such a supportive community.”
That kind of heartfelt feedback is the fuel that keeps them going.
Like many small businesses, L3 Craft Coffee faced serious hurdles during the COVID-19 shutdown. Sales dropped to 50% in the first month. Hours were cut. The future looked uncertain.
But giving up wasn’t an option.
“Tommy and I kept posting on social media, stayed open with limited dining, and tried to offer some sense of normalcy.”
And their community rallied behind them.
Customers continued to show up. They tipped generously. And within a few months, sales had returned to normal levels - a testament to how deeply rooted L3 is in the lives of local residents.
Part of what makes L3 Craft Coffee special is its commitment to lifting others up — especially youth and local entrepreneurs.
Here are just a few ways they give back:
Bridgeland Barracuda Swim Team - Donating coffee during Saturday morningmeets
Bridgeland Kid Entrepreneurs - Hosting pop-up tables for kids to showcase and sell their products
“Supporting the local community is what L3 Craft Coffee stands for: Love, Laugh, Learn.”
Many people compare small coffee shops to corporate chains like Starbucks, but L3 Craft Coffee is proof that bigger isn't always better.
“The quality of coffee is different — and so is the customer experience. We’re not just selling drinks. We’re building relationships.”
Thinking of starting your own business? The L3 team offers this simple but powerful advice:
“Talk to others who’ve done what you want to do. There are so many behind-the-scenes challenges that you don’t see when you're just looking at profits and costs.”
Taking time to learn from others can make the difference between a failed startup and a flourishing one.
Big things are brewing! L3 has opened their second location in Fulshear, TX, and they’re excited to bring their community-driven mission to even more people.
They’re also introducing new ways for locals to connect — including Mahjong Thursdays and other fun, interactive events designed to bring people together.
L3 Craft Coffee is more than a local business — it’s a reminder that faith, resilience, and a love for community can build something beautiful.
