Home Improvements Under $500 - Texas Homes and Real Estate

Want your home to sell faster?  Just doing some of these simple improvements will give your home a fresh look without major remodeling.

  • Curb Appeal - first appearances are everything, as they say, so make sure you have mowed and have plenty of pretty landscaping. Even change out the mailbox if it's looking worn.
  • Front Door/Porch - no need to buy a new door, just paint the old one and change out the hardware. Add a new light fixture, new door mat, and even an inviting pot of flowers to the porch.
  • Paint Inside - make sure the interior walls are neutral, or at least touched up. Loud colors can be a turnoff. Perhaps a little added crown molding in the living area. Make sure baseboards are clean.
  • Update Lighting - not everywhere, but a touch here and there, especially if the current fixtures seem dated. A new entry or dining chandelier, maybe change out lighting in the bathrooms over the sink. Even a table top lamp you've had for years that you plan to take with you can make the home feel older.
  • Install New Toilets - yes, newer toilets mean a lot to a home buyer. They want the larger, taller, more water efficient models. Prices are more affordable than you think, but if not then at least think about storage units, lighting or newer hardware in this area.
