Amusement Park Off I-45 South

Some know Friendswood resident Dr. Harvey Slusky as a neighbor. Others, as a cardiologist. But a project underway in Galveston County may make him best known for his passion for amusement parks.

Slusky is the brains and drive behind 25-acre Adventure Pointe, which is under construction off I-45 South south of League City. Slusky said that weather permitting and barring any building delays, the park may open by June.

While Slusky's history with amusement parks goes back to childhood, he didn't envision himself opening his own until a few years ago.

Slusky's father, Louis Slusky, owned Playland Park, a Houston amusement park that locals and visitors enjoyed from the early 1940s until 1967. The family also owned and operated the miniature train at the Hermann Park Zoo for decades.
