How much does it cost to own a home in Houston?  Out to the 15 largest metro areas in the nation, Houston ranks 11th in price for a home.  PITI average payment in Houston would be $1,338 on a $235,000 house.  Median home prices from the National Association of Realtors' second-quarter report to determine the monthly mortgage payment. The site assumed a 20% down payment and a 30-year fixed mortgage at an interest rate of 4.11%, as well as, average property taxes charged in the city.
