I know you have heard this before, but it is a good time to buy.  Rental prices are still rising.  The one bedroom apartment has increased an average of 0.78% since January of this year.  The two bedroom apartment has increased an average of 3.23%.  Why continue to put money in the landlord's pocket.  Consider putting the money in your own pocket by creating equity and using your tax deduction. 

If you have not saved enough for 20% down on a home purchase, there are many programs out there that do not required that - as low as 5% down (or 0% down if you are a veteran).  Interest rates have risen some, but they are still low - 4-5% is a great rate.    Talk to a lender about your possibilities.  It costs you nothing to investigate.  Read more in the link below from Culture Map Houston.
