"Cinderella and Dorothy are proof that shoes are important."
I saw this quote the other day. It did not have an author so I do not know who to give the credit to - if you do, please let me know. However, I love the quote on many different levels.
The bottom line is that for real estate I read the quote as meaning: take care of the details. How great is a new dress if you are wearing old, scuffed shoes? How great is the home if it's not "putting its best foot forward."
Don't assume that a potential buyer can look past the small stuff. Be sure to declutter, to touch up the paint, to replace the cracked window, to power wash the outside of your home, to fix the door handle that doesn't work properly, etc. It may be a great homel, but many people cannot see past the small stuff - the distractions. Take the time to prepare your home and make it looks its best - make it shine like a new shoe!
