Estate sales: Should you or shouldn't you?

As a real estate agent, I've seen both the pros and cons of estate sales. On the one hand, they can be a great way to get rid of a lot of stuff quickly and easily. On the other hand, they can also be a lot of work and stress.

So, should you use estate sale services? Here are a few things to consider:

Pros:

  • Convenience: Estate sale companies take care of everything, from advertising and marketing to pricing and selling your items. All you have to do is sit back and relax.
  • Speed: Estate sales can be a great way to sell a lot of stuff quickly. If you're moving or downsizing, an estate sale can help you get rid of everything you don't need all at once.
  • Money: Estate sale companies typically charge a percentage of the sales proceeds, so you can make a good chunk of money from your estate sale.

Cons:

  • Cost: Estate sale companies charge a fee for their services, so you'll need to factor that into your decision.
  • Control: You have less control over the pricing and sale of your items when you use an estate sale company.
  • Time: Estate sales can take a lot of time to prepare for. You'll need to sort through your belongings, decide what to sell and what to keep, and you may have to stage your home for the sale.

So, should you use estate sale services?

It depends on your individual needs and circumstances. If you're short on time, don't want to deal with the hassle of selling your stuff yourself, and don't mind giving up some control over the pricing and sale of your items, then an estate sale company may be a good option for you.

If you're on a budget, have a lot of time on your hands, and want to have more control over the pricing and sale of your items, then selling your stuff yourself may be a better option.

Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to use estate sale services is a personal one. There is no right or wrong answer.
