Labor Day weekend offers plenty of reasons to explore Greater Houston, from a symphony performance and life-sized dinosaurs to local art, Astros baseball, and a free celebration in The Woodlands. Because the Houston area has experienced periods of heavy rain, it is especially important to confirm plans before leaving home.
Houston’s current forecast calls for humid conditions with highs near 92 degrees and lows near 77 degrees Friday through Sunday. Monday is expected to reach approximately 93 degrees, with a low near 79 degrees. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms remain possible throughout the extended weekend.

The Woodlands closes the holiday weekend with live music from Shake Down Band HTX, children’s activities, strolling entertainers, youth and adult pie-eating contests, and fireworks at approximately 8:55 p.m. The event is free, and visitors may bring picnic baskets, coolers, blankets, and lawn chairs; glass is prohibited. Fireworks are weather permitting.
