If you are considering a move to the Houston area, Humble gives you access to established neighborhoods, growing master-planned communities, local parks, shopping, dining, and major employment centers on the northeast side of the city.
The name “Humble” can refer to the incorporated City of Humble as well as a broader area that includes communities around Atascocita, Lake Houston, Fall Creek, and parts of northeast Harris County. That wider area offers considerably more variety than you might expect from looking at the city limits alone.
You can find traditional homes on wooded streets, properties in established master-planned neighborhoods, and new construction communities with modern floor plans and shared amenities. Your daily commute, tax rate, school district, flood information, homeowner association requirements, and nearby conveniences can vary significantly by location, so comparing individual communities is an important part of choosing where to live.

Settlement in the Humble area began during the early 1800s. The city was named for Pleasant Smith “Plez” Humble, who settled near the San Jacinto River before the Civil War. He operated a ferry, maintained a store, worked with timber and gravel, and served as a local justice of the peace.
Humble later developed as a railroad and agricultural community, but oil transformed the town. The Humble oil field became one of the most productive fields in Texas during the early 1900s, and the community became closely connected with the state’s growing petroleum industry. Humble officially incorporated in 1933. The opening of Houston Intercontinental Airport, now George Bush Intercontinental Airport, in 1969 helped encourage additional residential and commercial growth in the surrounding area.
Today, you can still see reminders of that earlier identity around historic downtown Humble, even as the larger area continues to add homes, retail centers, restaurants, and community amenities.
Located in the Atascocita area with a Humble mailing address, Eagle Springs is an established master-planned community northeast of Houston. The community includes wooded areas, lakes, parks, trails, pools, playgrounds, and other recreational amenities.
You can find a variety of home sizes and architectural styles throughout its different sections. Eagle Springs may be worth exploring when you want an established neighborhood with mature landscaping and community amenities while remaining near shopping along FM 1960, West Lake Houston Parkway, and the broader Humble and Atascocita area.
Summerwood is a large master planned community near Lake Houston, West Lake Houston Parkway, and Beltway 8. Although it has a Houston address, it is part of the broader Humble and Lake Houston area that many buyers include in their home search.
The community covers approximately 1,500 acres and includes thousands of homes in a variety of styles and sizes. You can enjoy lakes, neighborhood parks, walking trails, swimming pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, and community gathering areas throughout Summerwood. Its location also provides access to shopping, dining, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and other communities around Lake Houston.
Summerwood is primarily an established community rather than a new construction neighborhood, making it a good option when you want neighborhood amenities, attractive landscaping, and homes with a range of ages, updates, and architectural details. As you compare properties, your Jade Realty EHS agent can help you review the home, its location within the community, and the features that matter most to you.
Watch the video below for a closer look at Summerwood and what the community has to offer.
Fall Creek is located near Beltway 8, south of central Humble and close to George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Development began in the early 2000s, and the community now includes approximately 2,500 homes along with pools, trails, sports facilities, parks, and the nearby Golf Club of Houston.
Its location can be useful when your routine involves the airport, Downtown Houston, or employment centers reached by Beltway 8 and U.S. 59. As with any Houston-area neighborhood, you should review current flood information, property-specific history, tax rates, utility districts, and insurance considerations before making a decision.

New construction is one of the strengths of the larger Humble and northeast Houston market. Depending on your preferred location, you may find inventory homes that are already complete, homes still under construction, and opportunities to select a homesite and floor plan.
The Groves is a nearly 1,000-acre wooded master-planned community in the Humble area. Its design emphasizes preserved trees, neighborhood gathering areas, trails, recreation, and community amenities.
The community is near Atascocita, Lake Houston, and retail corridors along West Lake Houston Parkway and FM 1960. Availability can differ by builder and section, making it helpful to compare homesites, included features, upgrade costs, estimated completion dates, and current builder incentives.
The Trails is a newer planned community near the northeast section of the Grand Parkway. Its master plan includes paths through wooded and open areas, an amenity center, a resort-style pool, a splash pad, and a playground. The community currently features new homes from multiple builders.
Although The Trails uses a New Caney address rather than a Humble address, it may be included in a broader northeast Houston home search because of its proximity to Lake Houston, Kingwood, Humble, and the Grand Parkway.
Humble serves as a major shopping area for northeast Houston. Deerbrook Mall is located at 20131 Highway 59 North and includes a changing mix of stores, restaurants, and entertainment.
You will also find major retailers, home improvement stores, restaurants, medical offices, and everyday services along U.S. 59, FM 1960, Townsen Boulevard, and West Lake Houston Parkway. The exact closest shopping area will depend on whether you choose central Humble, Atascocita, Fall Creek, or a community closer to Lake Houston or the Grand Parkway.
That depends on which side of the Humble area you call home.
The Atascocita H-E-B is located at 7405 FM 1960 East, Humble, Texas 77346.
The newer Madera Run H-E-B is located at 16000 Woodland Hills Drive, Humble, Texas 77346, serving communities farther east and north near Atascocita, The Groves, and the Woodland Hills area.
Since Humble covers a broad area, travel times should be checked from the specific home rather than from the city name alone.
Humble may be a good area to explore when you want a variety of established and new neighborhoods on Houston’s northeast side. You can compare homes near major retail corridors, quieter communities closer to Lake Houston, and new construction near the Grand Parkway.
The right community will depend on how you want to spend your day, where you need to travel, which amenities matter to you, and what ongoing property expenses fit your budget.
