Winter weather is headed our way this weekend, so this is your friendly reminder to protect your home, not just your pipes.

A few higher-level freeze prep tips we recommend to our homeowners:

• Set thermostats no lower than 68°, including guest rooms and secondary floors
• If you’re traveling, keep interior doors open to allow proper airflow
• Shut off and drain irrigation systems completely
• Cover outdoor faucets and backflow preventers (often overlooked)
• Check that pool equipment and exposed pumps are in freeze protection mode
• Park vehicles out of the driveway if they block access to exterior shutoffs

These little details can make a big difference — and protecting your home’s systems protects your long-term value.
