The rental market is really competitive right now. Weve addressed some of the factors on Tuned-In Realtor®.

But its not all easy for landlords. There are still scammers. And dont think this doesnt affect would-be renters! You may miss out on a property because the landlord is so anxious about being scammed.

According to mysmartmove.com, there are five scams to be particularly cautious of:

  1. False service animal letters
  2. Unauthorized tenants
  3. Fake credit reports
  4. Falsification of employment
  5. Tenants that dont intend to pay rent

#3-5 require extensive fraud. But emotional support animal documentation is very easy to get. I would say about 25% of my clients have that documentation. And Ive gone on tours where leasing offices imply the ease of getting that letter so you dont have to pay pet rent!

Ill talk more about this on Sunday at 11am on 1070 The Answer!
