What your dues cover, and what they don't

Buying a home in Sienna does not include golf. The Sienna Golf Club sits inside the community, but it is a semi-private club with its own membership, and it is not covered by your HOA dues. What your dues do cover is substantial: Club Sienna, the pools, the parks, the trails, and the tennis and pickleball courts. The good news on golf is that you do not need a membership to play. The course is semi-private, so you can book a tee time and pay as you go. One more thing worth knowing, since older articles still mention it: Sienna Stables closed in the summer of 2026.

What your HOA dues actually cover in Sienna

This is where the confusion starts, because Sienna has a lot of amenities, and most of them do come with the home.

Included with your home in Sienna:

  • Club Sienna, the recreation complex, with meeting and event space, a playground, a fishing dock, and an amphitheater
  • The pools, including the resort-style water areas and the kids' splash areas
  • The tennis and pickleball facilities, with eight lighted tennis courts and four pickleball courts
  • Parks, lakes, and the trail system that connects the neighborhoods

Not included with your home:

  • Sienna Golf Club membership

That last line is the whole point of this post. People tour the community, see the golf course, see the enormous amenity list, and reasonably assume it is all one package. It is not.

How golf at Sienna actually works

The Sienna Golf Club is an 18-hole, Arthur Hills-designed course that opened in 2000. It was originally a fully private club, and it is now semi-private, which is the key detail for buyers.

Semi-private means two things:

1. You can play without being a member. The course is open to public tee times, so residents and non-residents alike can book a round and pay greens fees. If you golf a few times a year, you may never need a membership at all.
2. Membership is optional and separate. If you want the benefits of belonging, you buy a membership through the club, not through your HOA.

The club also has a clubhouse with a golf shop, a practice area, a golf academy for lessons, and the Sienna Golf Club and Grille, which functions as a social spot for a lot of residents whether they golf or not.

For current membership options and greens fees, contact the club directly. Rates and membership tiers change, so go to the source rather than relying on a listing or an old forum post.

A note on Sienna Stables

Sienna Stables closed in the summer of 2026. If you have read older articles about Sienna, you have probably seen the equestrian facility mentioned, and a lot of sites still show it as open. It was privately owned, never an HOA amenity, so its closing does not change what your dues cover. The facility is still standing, so something may come back to that space eventually, but there is nothing to count on today.

What this means if you are buying in Sienna

If golf is central to your life, budget for it separately. Your HOA dues are one number, and golf is another. Ask the club what a membership runs today before you buy, so it is in your budget from day one, not a surprise later.

If you golf occasionally, you may be perfectly happy paying for tee times as you go, and skipping a membership entirely. The semi-private setup gives you that option.

If you do not golf at all, none of this changes what you get. The pools, the courts, Club Sienna, the trails, all of that comes with the home.

One more practical note. Some homes in Sienna back up to the golf course. A golf course lot is its own decision, with its own trade-offs on price, views, and traffic. That is worth talking through separately from the membership question, and I am happy to walk you through what those lots have actually been selling for.

Frequently asked questions

Do Sienna residents get free golf? No. Golf is not included in your HOA dues. The Sienna Golf Club has its own separate membership.

What amenities come with my home in Sienna? Club Sienna, the pools, the tennis and pickleball courts, the parks, the lakes, and the trail system are all covered by your HOA. The golf club is the exception. It is separate.

Is Sienna Stables still open? No. Sienna Stables closed in the summer of 2026. A lot of websites and community guides still show it as open, so be careful what you trust when you search for it. It was privately owned and never an HOA amenity, so its closing does not change what your dues cover.

How much is a Sienna Golf Club membership? Membership rates change, so contact the club directly for current pricing and tiers. Sienna Golf Club, One Waters Lake Blvd, Missouri City, (281) 778-4653.

Are homes on the golf course worth more in Sienna? Golf course lots price differently than interior lots, and the trade-offs go both ways. Ask me for recent sales on golf course lots versus comparable interior homes and you can see the actual numbers.
