I am new to the world of real estate. I sought out this adventure at the 30-year mark of being a medical imager. My career had been good to me and I was blessed to have cared for many families in some very difficult times. As I began to feel the calling of a new adventure, a co-worker shared a story with me about his new budding real estate career. At the end of his story, he stood up and said, "I have no idea why I felt compelled to tell you that!"
I knew. I had been searching and praying for a new direction....
I made a call to a dear friend who is a realtor to inquire about the process. After giving me a bit of direction, she assured me that I would love this field and I do!!
As I pass the first-year mark of my new career, I want to share a few things with you about realtors. Over the next several weeks, I will post a few lessons to hopefully shine a light on this new passion of mine.
Lessons learned in my first year as a realtor:
Realtors are, in general, caring and compassionate individuals who have a natural gift to serve others. That means we want all parties to win. Best outcomes occur when all parties have the warm fuzzies at the end of a transaction. New friendships have been made and we hope to work together again in the future.
I realize that this doesn't always occur and sometimes people can be difficult. Every day is not sunshine and roses and people can be uncooperative and unpleasant. Do not let that steal your joy. Hold on to the statement above and carry on my friends.
