This is the part of the Needville story that doesn't get enough attention. Voters passed a $200 million bond in 2023, and two major school buildings are already under construction — being built ahead of the incoming population wave.
Groundbreaking was held August 21, 2024. The new campus is a 220,000+ square-foot, two-story facility adjacent to the high school on Fritzella Road. Designed to hold 1,000 students (expandable to 1,500). Features include two gymnasiums, fine arts facilities, an ag/wood/welding shop, four tennis courts, a football field with track, and 300 parking spaces. Opens summer 2026 for the 2026–27 school year. The existing building was designed for 450 students but currently has 541 enrolled with 10 portable buildings in use.
Groundbreaking: February 18, 2026. The 129,448 sq ft single-story building sits directly across the street from Harvest Pointe — strategically placed at the heart of the new construction corridor. Full cafeteria, gym, classrooms, and playground. 14-month build timeline targeting May 2027 completion.
The district is building capacity before the population fully arrives — a strong signal of responsible planning. A new junior high ready for 2026–27 and a new elementary targeting 2027 means the school system will be ready for your family when you move in, not scrambling to catch up. Combined with that 9/10 GreatSchools elementary rating, Needville ISD is one of the most compelling school stories in southern Fort Bend County.
Needville's growth does not exist in isolation. Three nearby mega-projects will drive even more demand into this corridor over the next decade.
New construction from the $276,990s — well below Katy, Sugar Land, and Pearland pricing for comparable homes.
1+ acre homesites near Houston, zoned to strong schools, under $450K. That combination barely exists anywhere else in this metro.
Hwy 36 and US-59 connect to Rosenberg, the Energy Corridor, Sugar Land, and downtown Houston. Ideal for hybrid and remote workers.
