One of my favorite things about Houston is its vibrant art community. Although we have some pretty excellent museums, you dont need to pay to enjoy art in the city. Houston is famous for its murals; all you need to know is where to go. Here are some of what I consider to be the best mural walls in Houston. I recommend you check them out when you get a chance!

I Love You Wall
350 W. 19th Street Looking for a fun spot to take a few pictures for Instagram? Bring your friends and in-from-out-of-town relatives to this super-visible mural located at Harolds Restaurant in the Heights. Painted by Shelbi Nicole, the mural features the phrase I love you in numerous languages and at least one proposal has occurred here! Since the mural faces the restaurants parking lot, your best bet to take a photo unobstructed by vehicles is to arrive before 10 AM on a weekday.

Produce Row
100 Main Street If you like your murals big and bright, you will not be disappointed! This beauty was commissioned by Main & Co. and created by Dual Streets. The historic location used to be where all the citys fruit and vegetable markets gathered, and the murals purpose is to commemorate that tradition. You absolutely cannot miss this one!

Elephants!
508 Pecore Street Elephants symbolize loyalty, which makes this mural a hot spot for celebrating friendships, family, and romance. Studio NiaMoves painted this mural in a shared parking lot in the Heights, nearby the El Gato Coffeehouse. It sports two pink elephants nuzzling their foreheads together to form the shape of a heart. Like the I Love You Wall, this mural might be a bit hard to get a photograph in front of due to parked vehicles. I recommend visiting early in the morning or after business hours to snap the best photo.

2102 Leland Street
Although this set of murals isnt officially marked anywhere, you will know it when you see it. It stretches for a few blocks in Houstons East End and is affectionately dubbed Graffiti Park by many locals. This incredibly varied collection was created mostly as a result of the Houston Urban Experience Mural Festival as part of a citywide effort to brighten Downtown. The creativity here is pretty astounding! Concepts like zipping down a building will be sure to make you smile or perhaps even raise an eyebrow.
