Houston is known for its sprawling green spaces. They attract millions of visitors each year and offer so much, from quality time with nature to live entertainment. Here is my list of the best parks in Houston!

1. Discovery Green
   Located in downtown Houston, Discovery Green is a 12-acre urban park that opened in 2008.

What makes it special: Not only is the park beautiful, but it brings the community together through its many events.

2. Memorial Park
   One of the biggest parks on this list and in the United States, Memorial Park spans a massive 1,464+ acres. It holds a very special place in Houstons heart since it serves as a memorial site to those who served in World War I.What makes it special: As a memorial site, Memorial Park is an especially dear location. Its also a local hotspot for active Houstonians. Memorial Park features golf courses, a fitness center, a pool, a tennis center, and some of the best areas to kick around a soccer ball in Houston.
3. Levy Park

Take a walk up to the Upper Kirby District of Houston and you will find Levy Park. Its a 6-acre, thoughtfully-designed urban park designed to bring the neighborhood together.

What makes it special: Levy Park appeals to humans (and dogs) of all ages. It features a dog park, community garden, the Childrens Park, and gorgeous landscaping, which visitors can enjoy year-round. Visitors also have access to arts, education, and fitness programs in addition to entertainment.

4. Hermann Park

Hermann Park is a pretty great place to spend time, and since its located in the heart of Houston, its location is pretty awesome, too.

What makes it special: Hermann Park has something for everyone. It has a golf course, Japanese garden, the McGovern Centennial Gardens, Miller Outdoor Theatre, McGovern Lake, and of course, the famous Houston Zoo. Thats just to start! Its a great place to take the family for a day of fun.
